There are nine 49ers who elected to return for their super-senior seasons, headlined by Chris Reynolds, Victor Tucker and Markees Watts. Reynolds, the program's leading passer, has been automatic through summer and the beginning of fall camp. Returning f or a sixth season was something he just couldn't pass up. "Back in 2017, I didn't even know if I was going to be invited to a fall camp. I was a walk-on, and I was just grateful for an opportunity," Reynolds said. "That guy in 2017 would be punching me r ight now if I didn't take this opportunity. I love football. It's only right to finish what we started here. I'm thankful to be back, but we've got work to do."On the opposite side of the ball, Watts is just 2.5 sacks away from breaking Alex Highs mith's program record of 20. For Watts, coming back for another year was a no-brainer. "I didn't see it as a choice. It was never an option to leave," Watts said. "How can I call myself a senior, how can I call myself an older guy, when the first time I face adversity as a leader, I quit and run? There's no abandoning ship. This is my family; this is my home. 2021 ALL-CONFERENCE USA HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): DE: Markees Watts, Sr., Charlotte,...Charlotte's all-purpose defender finished the year with 62 tackles and team-highs with 7.0 TFL and 6.0 sacks. He ranked fifth in C-USA in sacks. He also forced two fumbles with a fumble recovery and added a blocked kick. He led the team with five QB hurries. He moved into second-place all-time in career sacks (just 2.5 behind current Pittsburgh Steeler Alex Highsmith) and owns two-of-the-top-three single-season sac k efforts in 49ers history. He currently ranks fifth all-time in career TFL, just 1.0 TFL shy of third all-time. He was named Honorable Mention All-C-USA for the second time in his career. - Charlotte Football

The productive edge attacker who teamed with fellow defensive end Alex Highsmith to cause h avoc in opposing backfields, ranked third in C-USA with 9.5 sacks and 11th in the league with 13.0 tackles for loss. He was sixth on the team with 62 tackles and led the 49ers with three forced fumbles.
