  01/28/23 - WR Joseph NgataSr/2023, Clemson, 6-3, 223 (DS#38 WR) + More +

Notes from NFLPA practice in Pasadena are split on wide receiver Joseph Ngata (Clemson). He is currently rated No. 261 overall, a seventh round/priority free agent, by NFL Draft Scout. He was previously rated as high as the third round but fell when injuries prevented him from living up to expectations. NFL.com highlighted Ngata among six of the most intriguing prospects from NFLPA Collegiate Bowl practices, reporting "Ngata was a five-star recruit out of high school. There were high expectations for him at Clemson, but he struggled to reach them during an injury-plagued career."

That's partially true. Ngata, who was measured at 6-3 1/4, 220 pounds last week, was a four-star recruit we saw at Folsom High (California) who was beset by injuries at Clemson. His best season was 2022 with 526 yards in 14 starts, including a career-best eight catches in his final game. In Tuesday's practice, Ngata wowed scouts with a diving catch over the middle and on Wednesday showed off his athleticism on some downfield passes. However, although we estimate he can run 40 yards in the mid 4.4 second area, scouts at the workouts told us that he struggled to get separation and was battling for the ball against smaller defensive backs. It will be interesting to see the results of his vertical jump, agility drills and quickness at the combine. - Frank Cooney, NFL Draft Scout

  05/05/22 - WR Joseph NgataSr/2023, Clemson, 6-3, 223 (DS#38 WR) + More +

Poised for a 2022 standout season: WR Joseph Ngata was injury free and living up to the reputation as the next great Tigers wideout in the spring. Ngata, bothered by injuries and inconsistencies his first three seasons, has 47 career catches for 761 yards and four TDs. - AP College Football

  04/08/21 - WR Joseph NgataSr/2023, Clemson, 6-3, 223 (DS#38 WR) + More +

Three of Clemson's top "Wide Receiver U" students are expected to give the Tigers' offense a jolt in 2021. Senior Justyn Ross and junior Frank Ladson Jr. didn't play in Clemson's spring game April 3, but junior Joseph Ngata did and provided a peek into how the unit could look this fall. Ngata caught six passes for 83 yards in the annual Orange & White game on Saturday. Ross sat out with a spine injury and Ladson was out for an undisclosed reason. "His upside," Swinney said of Ngata, "is through the roof." Swinney has been hyping Ngata since the Folsom, Calif., product stepped foot on campus, but Ngata's production has yet to live up to the buzz. He played sparingly as a freshman in 2019 - 17 catches for 240 yards and three touchdowns - and then was limited to seven games in 2020 because of an abdominal injury. - Charleston Post Courier
