The senior ran for 1,180 yards and 13 touchdowns to rank second in the league in yards and third in touchdowns on the ground. The Merced native also hauled in a team-best 50 passes for 366 yards.   NOV 14 BIG SKY CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: UC Davis running back Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. shared honors with MSU's Johnson on the offensive side of the ball after leading the Aggies to an upset road win over No. 15 Idaho on Saturday. Gilliam rushed for 164 yards, eclipsing the 100-yard mark in the first half, while scoring three times for the Aggies. On his first score of the game, Gilliam broke the UC Davis career rushing touchdown record of 40 that was held by Preston Jackson (1991-93), before also moving past the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season. It was Gilliam's eighth game this season and the 22nd of his career with at least 100 rushing yards. His final TD was the 50th of his record-setting career. He also caught three passes.   Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. ran for 173 yards on 31 carries and reached the end zone three times and UC Davis beat Idaho 44-26 on Saturday. Gilliam also recorded his second 1,000-yard rushing season and set the all-time rushing touchdown record on his first score. The win was the fifth in a row for the Aggies (6-4, 5-2 Big Sky). In his return to his home state, Lan Larison ran away from the Idaho defense for a 33-yard score to give the Aggies a 7-0 lead on just four plays on the opening drive.

Larison finished with 68 yards on seven carries. Isaiah Gomez connected on all three of his field goals and is now 13 for 13 tries in his last six games. Redshirt freshman Rex Connors posted 15 total tackles; including 10 solo stops. The win sets up next Saturday's showdown against league leading Sacramento State.   Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. ran for 132 yards and two third-quarter touchdowns and Miles Hastings threw for 270 yards and two more scores as UC Davis walloped Idaho State, 43-3 in a Big Sky Conference contest Saturday night. Idaho State scored first on an Ian Hershey 33-yard field goal with 10:36 left in the first quarter, but the Bengals were limited to 150 total yards and were blanked the rest of the way. Isaiah Gomez kicked three first-half field goals, including a 45-yarder midway through the first quarter that tied the game at 3-3. Hastings tossed a 1-yard pass to C.J. Hutton just before halftime to stake the Aggies to a 22-3 lead. Gilliam was already the UC Davis all-time leading rusher and holds school records for all-purpose yards and touchdowns. His two third-quarter touchdowns made him the all-time leader in total points scored by a non-kicker with 286. He entered the game with 5,665 all-purpose yards. - AP College Football

  Miles Hastings threw for 328 yards and two scores and Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. ran for 150 yards on 16 carries and scored twice and UC Davis beat Northern Arizona 56-27 on Saturday. On the first play of the second half, Gilliam surpassed 4,000-career rushing yards with a 77-yard run to the Northern Arizona 3-yard line. Gilliam now is the 12th player in Big Sky Conference history to surpass 4,000 yards rushing. The Aggies (2-4, 1-2) used four quarterbacks who collectively completed passes to 14-different receivers. A four-touchdown second quarter by UC Davis put it away. It was the first time in 13 months that the Aggies topped the 50-point mark. They beat San Diego 53-7 on Sept. 11, 2021 and the following week beat Dixie State 60-7. Gilliam went into the game needing just seven yards rushing to break the program's career mark of 3,589 set 24 years ago by G.P. Muhammad. Gilliam finished with 106 yards on 14 carries and has 3,689 career yards rushing.   Miles Hastings threw a pair of touchdown passes, Jr. Gilliam had 109 yards rushing and a score and FCS No. 10-ranked UC Davis beat Cal Poly 24-13 on Saturday night. The Aggies' win, coupled with Eastern Washington's 35-34 loss at home against Weber State, puts UC Davis and EWU into a tie for third place in the Big Sky Conference. Hastings's 1-yard touchdown pass to Carson Crawford finished a nine-play, 74-yard drive with 4:04 remaining in the third quarter that capped the scoring. Hastings also had a 9-yard TD pass to C.J. Hutton late in the second that gave UC Davis (7-1, 4-1) a 10-7 lead at the break. He completed 28 of 34 passes for 210 yards. Gilliam carried the ball 24 times that included a 30-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. Spencer Brasch threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Evan Burkhart in the second quarter for Cal Poly (1-6, 0-4).   Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. rushed for 104 of UC Davis' 211 yards on the ground and Trent Tompkins added two short touchdown runs as the 12th-ranked Aggies breezed to a 32-3 victory over Northern Colorado in Big Sky Conference play on Saturday. After a scoreless first quarter, UC Davis (6-1, 3-1) used Hunter Rodrigues' 1-yard TD toss to Jared Harrell, a 2-point run by Tompkins and a 28-yard field goal by Isaiah Gomez to take an 11-0 lead into halftime. Tompkins scored on a 5-yard run with 2:56 left in the third quarter for an 18-0 advantage and he added a 4-yard scoring run just 1:24 into the final quarter. Northern Colorado (2-5, 1-3) scored on a Ben Raybon 44-yard field goal with 8:04 left to play to avoid the shutout. Lan Larison capped the scoring for the Aggies on an 11-yard TD run with 1:05 remaining. Rodrigues completed 16 of 26 passes for 187 yards with two interceptions for UC Davis.   Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. had 178 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 26 carries to help UC Davis beat Dixie State 60-27 on Saturday night. Lan Larison, Trent Tompkins and Hunter Rodrigues each added touchdown runs for UC Davis (3-0). The Aggies, ranked No. 14 in the STATS FCS poll, had 380 yards rushing. Gilliam capped the opening drive with a 1-yard TD run and, after Dixie State (0-3) went three-and-out, scored on another 1-yard run with 7:51 left in the first quarter. Tompkins ran in the 2-point conversion to make it 15-0 and the Aggies led the rest of the way.

Kenyon Oblad threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Quali Conley about four minutes later and hit Taylor Alvarez for a 4-yard score early in the second quarter, but his 2-point conversion pass fell incomplete and the Trailblazers trailed 15-13. Tompkins scored on a 4-yard run, Gilliam followed with a 2-yard TD and wide receiver Carson Crawford threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jared Harrell to give UC Davis a 36-13 halftime lead. Adding his 57-for-354 receiving numbers, he also led the Big Sky and ranked 15th nationally in all-purpose yards (133.6), while his 12 total TDs – 11 on the ground, one in the air - put him fourth in the league. In fact, he became the first player to lead UC Davis in both rushing yards and receiving since halfback Ron Hanna achieved the feat in 1950, while those 57 total catches tied his school record for a running back.   Ulonzo Gilliam scored the winning touchdown with a short run and UC Davis stopped San Diego at the goal line with two seconds left, defeating the Toreros 38-35 on Saturday and snapping San Diego's 21-game home winning streak. San Diego had just taken a 35-31 lead when UC Davis (1-1), ranked No. 5 in the STATS FCS poll, answered with a 14-play, 81-yard drive that ended with Gilliam crashing through the line from the 1 with the winner.

The Toreros (0-2) marched 91 yards to the 4 in the waning minutes with Reid Sinnett rolling out to his right and tossing a short pass to a wide-open Daq Irby. UC Davis' Devon King came sprinting from the end zone to close the gap and hammered Irby just shy of the goal line, forcing a fumble to prevent a score and preserve the win.
