University of Arkansas offensive lineman Noah Gatlin is retiring from football after a lengthy run of medical issues, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has learned. Gatlin, a redshirt sophomore in 2020, won the job at right tackle last season and started the first five games there. He suffered a concussion and did not return to action the rest of the season and was replaced by Dalton Wagner, the 12-game starter at right tackle in 2019. A Jonesboro native, Gatlin has fought through medical issues as a Razorb ack. He suffered a torn knee ligament on the first day of fall camp in 2019 and missed the entire season while rehabbing from the injury. - Northwest Arkansas Times

Arkansas' offensive line is pushing forward after losing a piece during the first weekend of preseason practices. Razorbacks coach Chad Morris confirmed Monday afternoon in a brief meeting with the media that redshirt freshman offensive lineman Noah Gatl in, a native of Jonesboro, tore the ACL in his right knee on Friday in the team's first practice of the fall. The plan is for Gatlin, who played in four games last season, to undergo surgery on the knee toward the end of this week, Morris added."I t's unfortunate," Morris said. "But that happens. It's football. You move on. He'll become a better person and a better player because of it. It's just some adversity that he'll have to go through." Morris is hopeful Gatlin will recover in time to partic ipate in some spring practices in 2020. - Northwest Arkansas Times
