  Isaiah Totten's 5-yard scoring run and Davius Richard's pass to Daeshawn Stephens for the two-point conversion in double overtime sent North Carolina Central past Norfolk State 38-36 on Saturday. With the win, the Eagles (4-5, 2-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) ended Norfolk State's (6-3, 2-1) six-game winning streak. The Spartans built a 21-0 advantage before North Carolina Central rallied. Latrell Collier scored on a 27-yard run, Richard threw a 22-yard pass to Devin Smith and Adrian Olivo's 31-yard field goal with 14 seconds before halftime reduced NCCU's deficit to 21-17. The Eagles took their first lead when Richard threw a 29-yard scoring pass to Ryan McDaniel with 2:19 left in the third. Richard threw for 182 yard and two scores. JJ Davis ran for 217 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries, the most rushing yards by a Spartan since Daryl Jones' 256 against Florida A&M in 2007. Juwan Carter entered needing eight yards passing to surpass Aaron Sparrow as the Spartans' all-time leader. He finished with 155 and now has 8,906 for his career. - AP College Football

  North Carolina Central says it will opt out of a spring football season due to concerns about health and safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The school announced the decision Thursday, saying the team would have spring practices to prepare for a fall season. The Eagles are part of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in the Championship Subdivision, which delayed its football season until spring amid the pandemic. - AP College Football

  2019 ALL-MEAC FIRST TEAM (COACHES): RB Isaiah Totten, r-Jr., North Carolina Central,...Totten (Apex, N.C.), who returns to the All-MEAC First Team after receiving All-MEAC Second-Team recognition as a redshirt freshman in 2017, ran for 636 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 4.0 yards per carry, to become just the eighth Eagle in school history to amass 2,000 career rushing yards. He currently ranks seventh on NCCU's all-time rushing list with 2,122 yards, averaging 5.0 yards per run with 15 touchdowns.   Jordan Freeman scored early in the final quarter and Latrell Collier added a final touchdown run as North Carolina Central got off to a slow start before rolling over Howard 28-6 on Saturday. NCCU (4-5, 3-2 MEAC), which has defeated Howard eight consecutive times, took a 7-0 lead when Isaiah Totten scored from the 5 with 5:32 remaining in the first half. The Eagles got their second score when Davius Richard hit Collier on a 39-yard touchdown toss with 6:35 left in the third. The NCCU defense kept the Bison in check, allowing just 195 total yards with only 39 yards rushing. The Eagles amassed 390 total yards, 199 coming on the ground and 191 passing. Freeman broke free for a 37-yard scoring run to go ahead 21-0 with 13:22 left in the game. Collier scored on a 2-yard run with 4:50 remaining. Josiah Crute ran it in from the 8 in the final minute for Howard's only score. The Bison (1-8, 1-4) have lost five straight games. - AP College Football

  Davius Richard threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns and the North Carolina Central defense allowed just 91 yards in a 45-7 victory over Division II member Elizabeth City State on Saturday. Several of UNCC's scoring plays were from beyond 30 yards. Isaiah Totten ran 43 yards for a score, Richard hit Ryan McDaniel for a 45-yard touchdown pass, Jordan Freeman ran 36 yards for a touchdown and Jerome Foster returned an interception 40 yards for another score. The Eagles (1-3) totaled 391 yards on offense. Dajuan Greene caught an 11-yard TD pass from Kedr Patterson for the only score for the Vikings (0-3). - AP College Football
