  04/19/21 - OT T.J. StormentrSr/2022, Texas Tech, 6-6, 322 (DS#44 OT) + More +

T.J. Storment, an Associated Press second-team All-Big 12 honoree last season at TCU, has helped firm up Texas Tech's outlook at left tackle this spring. The Red Raiders wrap up spring practice Saturday with the annual spring game at Jones AT&T Stadium. There was a time during the winter when Texas Tech offensive line coach Steve Farmer had four offensive tackles who all spent far more time on the field than on the bench last season. There was Josh Burger, who started every game at right tackle, Caleb Rogers and Ethan Carde who, between them, started every game at left tackle and then incoming transfer T.J. Storment, who started TCU's last seven games at left tackle. That constituted either terrific depth or a logjam. This spring, Tech moved Burger to guard, gave Rogers and Carde opportunities to learn at a slower pace and got Storment acclimated to his new team.

Tech had high hopes for Storment, considering the 6-foot-7, 325-pound North Carolinian started every game two seasons ago for Colorado State and earned second-team All-Big 12 recognition last year for TCU. He made a good first impression and projects as the Red Raiders' left tackle. "He just brings such an adult perspective to everything," Farmer said. "He wants to be great. He wants to do this for a living. It's important to him. "He wants to know the details when we're in meetings. And Dawson's the same way. It's great for young guys to hear guys that have played - Josh Burger - still asking for the details with the scheme and those type of things. He's been a tremendous teammate and really has fit in great for us." - Lubbock Avalanche Journal

  01/16/21 - OT T.J. StormentrSr/2022, Texas Tech, 6-6, 322 (DS#44 OT) + More +

TCU left tackle T.J. Storment has put his name in the NCAA transfer portal, a source said on Friday. Storment, who spent one season with the program as a graduate transfer out of Colorado State, started the final seven games at left tackle. The 6-foot-7, 325-pound Storment emerged as one of TCU's top offensive lineman as the season progressed and earned second-team All-Big 12 honors from The Associated Press and was voted honorable mention All-Big 12 by the league's coaches. It's unclear where Storment may land. It will be his fifth school as he takes advantage of the NCAA freezing eligibility in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic. - Fort Worth Star
