Frank Harris threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 49 yards and another score, lifting No. 23 UTSA to its second-straight Conference USA championship with a 48-27 victory over North Texas on Friday night at the Alamodome. UTSA knocked off North Texas for the second time in six weeks. In a game on Oct. 21, it took Harris' 10-yard pass to De'Corian Clark with 15 seconds remaining to give UTSA a 31-27 victory. Not wanting a repeat of its regular-season finale a week earlier in which UTSA found itself in a 24-0 hole against UTEP, the team came out firing from the start, scoring on the opening possession. After falling behind 10-7, the Roadrunners reeled off 17 unanswered points, including 10 in the final 1:12 of the first half to take a 24-10 lead at the break and never trailed again.

Harris and the offense, which has scored at least 30 points in 12 of 13 games this season, kept the pressure on, rolling up 571 yards of total offense. Harris had scoring passes of 32, 14, and 39 yards to senior Zakhari Franklin, and his fourth - a 16-yard toss to junior tight end Oscar Cardenas - sealed the victory with 4:07 left. Junior quarterback Austin Aune, who engineered a scoring drive that got North Texas within 34-27 early in fourth quarter, threw for 194 yards and score, but was picked off twice. The Roadrunners, who ran the table in conference play this season, improved to 11-2 and will await a bowl invitation. Projections include a potential bid from the New Orleans Bowl. North Texas fell to 7-6 and is bowl-eligible. - UTSA/AP College Football

UTSA scored the last 20 points, and Sackett's late kick capped an eight-play, 73-yard drive that gave the Roadrunners their only lead of the game. Sackett also made a 51-yard field goal in the third quarter. Frank Harris threw for 382 yards and three touchdowns for UTSA (10-2, 8-0), which entered having already clinched the C-USA regular season title and will host the conference championship against North Texas on Friday.

Ogle-Kellogg's 70-yard scoring catch tied the game 31-31 at the end of the third quarter. Calvin Brownholtz threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter, and his 23-yard TD run gave UTEP a 24-0 lead with 7:03 remaining in the second. Brownholtz finished 11-of-24 passing for 189 yards and also had two interceptions. Tyrin Smith had four catches for 99 yards and a score for UTEP (5-7, 3-5).   Frank Harris threw two touchdown passes in regulation and two more in a pair of overtime periods as UTSA held off UAB 44-38 on Saturday to remain undefeated in Conference USA play. Harris fired a 12-yard touchdown pass to Zakhari Franklin midway through the fourth quarter, then found him again for a two-point conversion to put UTSA on top 31-17.   Frank Harris threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Oscar Cardenas with three seconds left, rallying No. 15 UTSA to a wild 34-31 victory over UAB on Saturday. The Roadrunners (11-0, 7-0) defeated the reigning three-time Conference USA West champion Blazers (7-4, 5-2) to clinch their first division title. Trailing much of the game, the Roadrunners got the ball back with 1:09 left after stuffing the Blazers a yard short of a first down on third-and-4 at the UAB 42. Following a punt, Harris drove UTSA 77 yards on seven plays. The winning touchdown came after Harris fumbled the snap and had his pass tipped by UAB linebacker Noah Wilder before Cardenas caught it in the back of the end zone. Harris completed 25 of 35 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns. The senior set the school single-season record with 21 touchdown passes on his first TD Saturday.

Dylan Hopkins passed for 254 yards and two touchdowns and DeWayne McBride rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries for UAB. The Roadrunners took their first lead late in the third quarter on Hunter Duplessis' 49-yard field goal to go up 27-24. Duplessis had a 51-yarder earlier. UTSA had a season-high 35,147 in attendance at the Alamodome, and the crowd had an impact as it did last week against Southern Miss. UAB had three false starts, a delay of game and had to call its final timeout with 5:25 left in the game to avoid a penalty. - UTSA/AP College Football

Frank Harris passed for 227 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 54 yards and No. 15 UTSA overcame a sluggish performance to beat Southern Mississippi 27-17 on Saturday and remain undefeated. UTSA, Georgia and Cincinnati are the only remaining unbeaten FBS teams following No. 8 Oklahoma's 27-14 loss at No. 13 Baylor. The Roadrunners (10-0, 6-0 in Conference-USA) needed late defensive stands to avoid an upset by the Golden Eagles (1-9, 0-6). Favored by 33 1/2-point favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, UTSA nearly became fully ensnared in a trap game if not for its defense. With the game tied at 17 with six minutes remaining, UTSA noseguard Jaylon Haynes recovered a fumble by Southern Miss quarterback Antavious Willis at the Golden Eagles 35. The turnover led to Hunter Duplessis' go-ahead, 24-yard field goal with 4:39 remaining. UTSA sealed the victory with 4:25 remaining on a fumble recovery by Charles Wiley at Southern Miss 9 after Corey Mayfield Jr. stripped Willis as he fled the pocket. Sincere McCormick scored on the ensuing play to give the Roadrunners a 27-17 lead. - UTSA/AP College Football

Frank Harris passed for 286 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for two more scores to lead No. 16 UTSA to a 44-23 victory against UTEP on Saturday night at the Sun Bowl. The Roadrunners (9-0, 4-0 C-USA) pushed their school-record win streak to nine games and are one of four undefeated FBS teams. "It's getting surreal," UTSA coach Jeff Traylor said. "We can deny it and say we don't listen to (talk about being undefeated), but we do. "But our kids don't feel pressure." UTSA has won five in a row against UTEP (6-3, 3-2).

UTSA wasted no time in taking control, as running back Sincere McCormick darted through a big hole on the left side for a 75-yard touchdown on the second play after the opening kickoff. "We've worked on it all week, and they gave us the exact look we were looking for," Traylor said. McCormick finished with 169 yards on 21 carries. Harris and McCormick helped push all the right buttons for the Roadrunners, who scored all six times they had the ball in the first half. They've put up 40 or more points four games in a row. "That's as good as we've ever been offensively," Traylor said. "It's just a November to remember. We're stacking one great day on top of another. We have really good players, they're talented, and they're a blast to coach." - UTSA/AP College Football

Frank Harris threw two touchdown passes to Zakhari Franklin and No. 24 UTSA celebrated its first national ranking with a 45-16 victory over Louisiana Tech on Saturday night. Harris was 12 of 20 for 193 yards, with scoring passes of 75 and 10 yards to Franklin, to help the Roadrunners (8-0, 4-0 Conference USA) extend their school-record winning streak to eight games. Franklin had five catches for 118 yards, and Sincere McCormick ran for 113 yards and three touchdowns. Dadrian Taylor returned an interception 51 yards for a score.

UTSA, one of nine remaining undefeated FBS teams, won for the first time in Ruston in six attempts dating to 2012. "This is a big one," Roadrunners coach Jeff Traylor said. "We came here last night and all the kids were talking on the field about how negative things have been here - how they got their tails kicked. It painted a picture to me of how many negative things were in their heads. I don't know if I've done anything any good (at UTSA), but I know one thing – my kids don't play scared. We put out those bad memories and we don't play with fear." Louisiana Tech (2-5, 1-2) hosted a Top 25 opponent for the first time since 2010 when the Bulldogs lost to then-No. 14 Nevada and Colin Kaepernick. - UTSA/AP College Football

UTSA's Frank Harris has earned a spot on the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List, the Davey O'Brien Foundation announced on Tuesday.   The quarterback position has been a revolving door for the Roadrunners in recent years, and it remains under scrutiny after Harris and Adkins split first-team snaps during UTSA's spring game. Harris, the faster and more athletic option behind center, will likely have the inside track to the starting job as the more experienced option and one of the Roadrunners' emotional leaders. But Adkins is expected to push Harris through fall camp, potentially offering a more accurate passing option.

Injuries have been the story of Harris' career. The former Clemens star missed 2017 and 2018 because of ACL tears, sat out the final eight games of 2019 due to a shoulder injury and pushed through nagging knee problems last year. He was productive in his opportunities, throwing for 1,630 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions while running for 528 yards and nine scores, but questions of whether he was UTSA's best option lingered. - Express-News

UTSA quarterback Frank Harris will be a game-time decision for Saturday's matchup against UAB due to a knee sprain, coach Jeff Traylor said Monday. Harris left Friday's home win against Middle Tennessee during the second quarter and did not return. He was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Saturday morning, and Traylor called the outcome the "best news possible." Through three games, Harris has passed for 508 yards and three touchdowns with one interception and a 66.2 percent completion rate. He has also rushed for 162 yards and five TDs. Josh Adkins, a Smithson Valley graduate and transfer from New Mexico State, replaced Harris against Middle Tennessee and completed 16 of 28 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown as UTSA won 37-35 at the Alamodome. Harris, a junior, appeared to jam his right knee into the turf when he was tackled at the end of a 20-yard run during the final minute of the first half. He played two more snaps but then began waving to the sideline as he jogged back toward the huddle, eventually falling to the turf. - Express-News
