Carter Bradley threw three touchdown passes and South Alabama held Old Dominion scoreless in the second half to rally for its fifth-straight win, 27-20 win on Saturday. South Alabama needed Troy to lose Arkansas State in a late game to win the West Division and advance to the conference title game. Old Dominion's Jason Henderson had 18 tackles, giving him 186 for the season, a total only exceeded by the 193 of Lawrence Flugence of Texas Tech in 2012 and the 191 of Luke Kuechly of Boston College a year earlier. Henderson had double-figure tackles in every game - with a high of 22 - except for getting just two last week before suffering an injury. The Jaguars (10-2, 7-1 Sun Belt) trailed the Monarchs (3-9, 2-6) 20-13 at halftime as Hayden Wolff threw a pair of touchdown passes for Old Dominion.

Then Bradley engineered a pair of long touchdown drives with an interception, the only turnover of the game, between them. First the Jags went 83 yards in 12 plays with Jalen Wayne hauling in a 30-yard scoring pass. After his pick, Bradley found DJ Thomas-Jones for a two-yard score to end a 15-play, 69 yard drive. After scoring on four of five possessions in the first half, Old Dominion only got the ball four times in the second, punting on the first three and giving up the ball on downs at the South Alabama 41 with 1:46 to play on the last. The Monarchs only had 69 of their 381 yards on the second half. South Alabama had 398 yards but kept the ball more than 10 minutes longer. La'Damian Webb had 74 yards rushing for South Alabama to surpass 1,000 for the season. - South Alabama/AP College Football

Carter Bradley threw two of his three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter and South Alabama beat Southern Miss 27-20 Saturday night for the Jaguars' fourth consecutive win and seventh in the last eight games. Freshman Braylon McReynolds ran for 102 yards on 15 carries and added three receptions for 66 yards in his first career start for South Alabama (9-2, 6-1 Sun Belt). La'Damian Webb, the team's leading rusher with 938 yards on 179 carries and 13 TDs, didn't play due to an injury suffered in last week's win over Texas State.

Frank Gore Jr. scored on a 7-yard run to give Southern Miss (5-6, 3-4) a 7-3 lead in the first quarter and his 29-yard TD pass to Jason Brownlee late in the third quarter put the Golden Eagles in front, 17-13. Devin Voisin caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from Bradley with 11:31 to play and Caullin Lacy's TD reception with 1:53 to go gave South Alabama a 27-17 lead. Gore finished with 20 carries for 66 yards. The sophomore and son of Frank Gore - who ran for 16,000 career yards, third most in NFL history - has three touchdown passes this season and seven career. - South Alabama/AP College Football

Carter Bradley threw four touchdown passes - two of them to Devin Voisin - and South Alabama rolled to a 38-21 victory over Texas State on Saturday. Bradley hooked up with Voisin for a 41-yard touchdown on the first possession for South Alabama (8-2, 5-1 Sun Belt Conference) and Diego Guajardo kicked a 35-yard field goal to put the Jaguars up 10-0 after one quarter. Bradley hit DJ Thomas-Jones for a 2-yard touchdown in the second quarter and a 17-0 lead at halftime.

Layne Hatcher got Texas State (3-7, 1-5) on the scoreboard midway through the third quarter on a 4-yard scoring toss to Rontavius Groves, but Bradley answered with a 41-yard scoring strike to Caullin Lacy and the Jaguars led 24-7 with one quarter to go.   Toledo has its quarterback. Rockets coach Jason Candle announced Monday that fourth-year sophomore Carter Bradley will start against Norfolk State on Saturday at the Glass Bowl. "Carter Bradley will start at quarterback Saturday night," Candle said. "You will see some Dequan Finn also Saturday night. Carter's had a very good camp. I think Dequan has had a very good camp, as well. Both guys deserve to play, and that's how we will approach it. "But I don't think in Carter's case or DQ's case that this is an ongoing competition, and I don't think if you make a bad play that you need to look over your shoulder that you're going to come out of the football game on the next snap. Both of them bring a little bit something different to the table, and that's how we will approach this first game." Bradley has started three games for the Rockets, completing 58 of 120 pass attempts for 708 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. During the shortened 2020 season, he threw for a career-high 432 yards against Central Michigan, the most by a Mid-American Conference QB all year, and ranked third in the conference in passing efficiency (164.1). - Toledo Blade
