2021 ALL-CONFERENCE USA HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): LB: Tyler Murray, RS Sr., Charlotte,...Charlotte's leading tackler each of the last two years, the team's top defensive playmaker posted 79 tackles (6.6/game). He moved over 100 career tackles in just two seasons. Voted a 2021 team captain, he has started all 18 games over his two years with the program. He finished the year with 5.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks and 4 QB hurries. He also had two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery this season. A consistent defensi ve force, he had at least five tackles in 11 games this year. He was named Honorable Mention All-C-USA for the second straight year. - Charlotte Football

Linebacker Tyler Murray, a transfer from Troy, had 14 tackles (one for a loss), an interception, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. That wasn't too surprising, since Murray had played well against App State before. 49ers coaches were sold on Murray after he decided to transfer when they watched video of him in a Trojans game against the Mountaineers in 2018 (he had eight tackles). - Charlotte Observer

SEPT 14 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Charlotte junior LB Tyler Murray posted double-digit tackles and played a role in three key turnovers as Charlotte battled Appalachian State. The Jacksonville, Florida, native recovered a fumble to thw art an App State scoring drive at the Charlotte one-yard line on their first possession of the game. His third-quarter interception stopped another drive into the red zone and his forced fumble at the Mountaineers 20-yard line gave Charlotte a chance to tie midway through the fourth quarter. The transfer from Troy finished the game with 14 tackles, 1.0 TFL, a FR, a FF and an INT in his 49ers debut. - Conference USA Football
