Amik Robertson, all 5-foot-9, 187 pounds of him, earnestly believes he was born different. And once the film of his simulated Pro Day that he worked through Wednesday down in Baton Rouge gets in the hands of all 32 NFL teams, he believes they'll think the same of him, too. "You can't get these hands out the store," Robertson joked to the News-Star following his Pro Day performance, where he said he caught every ball thrown his way. "With my hands and feet, I was just born different. "(NFL scouts) will definitely be saying that - I feel like they're already saying that about me. The way I play the game, my passion, my instincts and how I run, it's different. It's willing. I'm a guy that's willing to win and never lose. I hate to lose and it shows on my film. That makes me different."

Since the NFL Combine in Indianapolis four weeks ago, Robertson has steadily climbed up many NFL teams and analysts' draft board, projecting as high as a mid-second round draft choice. A scout in attendance said the cornerback's Pro Day might have raised his stock in the NFL Draft, set be held April 23-25. "What he ran, I think it's (a second-round number) or he could be higher, depending on what a team is looking for," the scout told The News-Star. "I think he helped himself. I could see him being taken in the second or third round. Teams looks for guys who fit what they do." - Monroe News Star

Current uncertain and unprecedented times in the sports world call for unconventional methods. When college football Pro Days all around the country - including at Louisiana Tech - started getting canceled due to the growing health threat of COVID-19, or coronavirus, former LA Tech star Amik Robertson and his agent, Marlon Moore from MVA Sports, put their heads together to come up with an unusual plan. "We plan to record my drills and we'll record my 40-yard dash off the laser," Robertson told the News-Star Wednesday afternoon. "Then we're going to send it to all 32 teams to let them now that I haven't missed a step and I can still move the same."

Just more than a month from being fully cleared to resume complete workouts after surgery on Jan. 17 to repair a torn groin muscle, Robertson said they'll more than likely wait at least a couple of weeks before filming what would've been his Pro Day workout and getting it out into the right hands for each NFL team. It's not traditional, but for Robertson, a guy that's a projected third- to fifth-round draft choice where many recent mock drafts have the 5-foot-9, 190-pound cornerback being taken, it's a potential means to elevate his stock ahead of the NFL Draft. "As far as being safe, the world hasn't really seen anything like this. Since I've been living on this planet, I haven't face any adversity this complicated. This is new to everybody," Robertson said. "So we had to adjust from the traditional way. My agent came up with a gameplan and hopefully it works." - Monroe News Star
