Jarques McClellion, Florida State, Player News

McClellion is among nine FSU players who joined the program during the offseason. The 6-foot, 184-pound defensive back spent the past three seasons in Fayetteville, where he started 20 games for the Razorbacks. He decided to sit out the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns and the pandemic prompted him to transfer closer to home. "Being a Seminole has been in my family, in my bloodline," McClellion said. "We've always been Seminoles fans since Day 1 when I was a baby. I always wanted to play for Florida State, so when Coach [Mike] Norvell gave me the offer, I wanted to come here and play. "I feel like it's God's blessing because now my mom can finally see me play." - Orlando Sentinel

Former Arkansas cornerback Jarques McClellion will transfer to Florida State, he said in a Twitter post Sunday. McClellion's announcement came one day after he said he was entering the NCAA's transfer portal. McClellion did not play this season after he opted out Oct. 1, citing a previous quarantine. McClellion, a cornerback from Lake Worth, Fla., announced Saturday he "will forgo the 2021 NFL Draft" and enter the NCAA transfer portal. He is the third of Arkansas' 2020 opt outs to announce intentions to transfer since Wednesday. - Northwest Arkansas Times

Arkansas cornerback Jarques McClellion announced on Thursday that he was opting out of the season due to family issues with covid-19, joining receiver Shamar Nash and offensive lineman Chibueze Nwanna as opt-outs. McClellion announced his decision with a Twitter post, writing he's been quarantined twice since returning to campus on June 1, and noting he watched his mother "fight for her life" on a ventilator last year during the birth of his sister. "This has really hit home for me and my family being quarantined twice," he wrote. "I wish my university all the best this football season." - Northwest Arkansas Times
