Christian Zendejas, Arizona State, Player News

Arizona State junior kicker Cristian Zendejas has become the second Sun Devil this week to enter the transfer portal. Zendejas, a product of Perry High School and the son of former ASU legend Luis Zendejas, was 9-for-9 in extra point kicks in the shortened season but only 2-for-4 on field goal tries with misses from 40 and 45 yards. Freshman Jack Luckhurst also saw some playing time and, at worst, had probably equaled Zendejas on the depth chart. He was 9-for-9 on extra points and made his only field goal try which was from 49 yards out against UCLA. Luckhurst came into that game after Zendejas missed from 45 yards out in the first quarter. Zendejas had a stellar 2019, going 19-for-20 on extra points and converting 23 of 27 field goal tries but had a best of 43 yards and was 5-for-7 on attempts 40 to 49 yards. - Arizona Republic

2020 PRESEASON LOU GROZA COLLEGIATE PLACE-KICKER AWARD WATCH LIST: Cristian Zendejas, Arizona State,...Arguably no kicker finished the season in better form than Zendejas, who went 10-for-10 on field goals over the final three games, including a Sun Bowl-record four field goals in Arizona State's 20-14 win over Florida State and three crucial makes in the Sun Devils' 31-28 upset of Oregon. His 23 field goals are tied for fifth among returning FBS kickers. - Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award
