On Friday, the 6-foot-2, 239-pound junior tight end and Eastside Catholic alum made the thoroughly unsurprising announcement that he will forgo his senior season and declare for the 2020 NFL Draft. UW's most dynamic Dawg showed it last weekend, finishing with six catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns in the 33-28 loss to Utah. Quarterback Jacob Eason had a 135.4 passer rating when targeting his junior tight end. Against arguably the Pac-12's premier defense, the Eastside Catholic alum showcased superior hands, athleticism, speed and route-running. Through nine games, the Issaquah product ranks second nationally in tight-end receiving yards (557), while adding 36 catches, three touchdowns and 15.5 yards per reception. - The Seattle Times

2019 JOHN MACKEY AWARD FINALIST: Hunter Bryant (JR, Washington),...Bryant has made 46 receptions for 729 yards and three touchdowns for the Huskies in 2019. His reception and yardage totals both rank as the third most in UW single-season history. He trails only Harrison Bryant (890) nationally for yards by a tight end. In three years, Bryant has amassed 1,298 receiving yards on 79 receptions. His 1,298 yards are second most by a tight end in UW history. Bryant hopes to join Austin Seferian-Jenkins (2013) as Huskies to win the John Mackey Award. - Washington Football

When Oregon State closed in on Washington, Salvon Ahmed broke away with a 60-yard scoring run to douse any momentum the Beavers had. Ahmed ran for a career-high 174 yards, scoring twice, and Washington rebounded from a two-game losing streak with a 19-7 victory over the Beavers on Friday night. The Huskies (6-4, 3-4 Pac-12) became bowl eligible with the victory, their eighth straight over the Beavers. Washington has not lost three in a row during coach Chris Petersen's tenure. "Salvon's always one pitch away from hitting it out of the park," Petersen said afterward.

The Beavers (4-5, 3-3) trailed 10-0 at the half but rallied in the third quarter on Jaydon Grant's interception return for a touchdown. Oregon State, which has already won more games than in the past two seasons combined, has three remaining games to try to earn its first bowl berth since 2013. Hunter Bryant had five catches for 90 yards for Washington, after catching a pair of touchdowns last weekend in a 33-28 loss to Utah. Bryant went into the game ranked second nationally in yards receiving by tight ends (557). Huskies quarterback Jacob Eason threw for 175 yards but was intercepted twice. "I was able to make things happen, but it's credit to the offensive line, the receivers, the tight ends, everyone," Ahmed said. "They were all doing the job and executing." - AP College Football

One of the bright spots for Washington is the continued development of tight end Hunter Bryant. With the speed of a wide receiver but the size of a tight end, Bryant has become a favored target for Jacob Eason. Last week against Utah, Bryant had six catches for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The six receptions tied a season high and it was his second 100-yard receiving day of the season. Bryant is second nationally in yards receiving by tight ends with 557. "He's a natural catcher and a really competitive guy when the ball is in the air. That's what you really like about him," Petersen said. - AP College Football
