2019 ALL-OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): JaVaughn Craig, Austin Peay,...When pressed into action after Jeremiah Oatsvall was lost for the regular season, the senior responded with a monster final campaign, throwing for 2,567 yards and 22 tou chdowns on 180-of-318 through the air, and rushing for 547 yards on 105 carries and eight scores as a complementary threat out of the backfield. His 141.0 pass efficiency led the conference and ranked 31st in the NCAA, while his 22 scores ranked second a nd 21st, respectively. He also averaged 14.3 yards per completion, 12th in the NCAA and first in the league. JaVaughn Craig passed for two touchdowns and ran for another score, Baniko Harley scored three TDs, and Austin Peay beat Sacramento State 42-28 on Saturday in the second round of the FCS playoffs. Austin Peay plays at No. 5 seed Montana State in the quar terfinals. Craig was 18-of-28 passing for 204 yards with an interception and added 12 carries for 164 yards, including a 58-yard run that set up his 18-yard scramble for a score that gave the Governors (11-3) a 35-7 lead with 5:26 left in the third quart er.Austin Peay punted on its first possession but then scored touchdowns on its next three drives. Craig hit DeAngelo Wilson for a 15-yard TD and Harley for a 3-yard score before a 45-yard touchdown run by Harley made it 21-0 late in the first qua rter. The fourth-seeded Hornets (9-4) went three-and-out on their first four possessions and had just two first downs in the first half. The Governors, making their first appearance in the FCS playoffs, set a program record for wins in a season. Kevin Th omson accounted for all four Sacramento State touchdowns, two passing and two rushing. He finished with 306 yards passing - 275 in the second half - and added 87 yard rushing. JaVaughn Craig threw two of this three touchdown passes in the third quarter when Austin Peay took control and rolled to a 42-6 win over Furman on Saturday in the Governors. first FCS playoff game. The game was delayed by weather several times. The Gover nors (10-3) play at fourth-seeded Sacramento State (9-3) next weekend. Craig completed a four-play 15-yard drive with a 15-yard pass to DeAngelo Wilson on the opening drive of the second half and 2 ½ minutes later dumped a pass over the middle to Kente Williams who went 73 yards to end zone. Turnovers set up the next two scores. On the first play after the long TD pass, Kordell Jackson recovered a fumble at the 33. Prince Momodu cashed that in with a 4-yard run after a pass play picked up 29. Tyriq Art ies recovered a fumbled punt return at the 28 and on the fourth play Williams scored on a 1-yard run. Furman (8-5), making its 18th playoff appearance, came in as the No. 5 rushing team at 275.8 yards but picked up only 145 yards against the No. 5 run de fense. The Paladins finished with 227 total yards. Craig went 18 of 23 for 264 yards. Williams had four catches for 103 yards and 11 rushes for 57 as Austin Peay picked up 434 yards. - AP College Football

NOV 25 OHIO VALLEY OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: JaVaughn Craig, QB, 6-2, 210, Sr., Chattanooga, Tenn., Austin Peay,...Craig accounted for 292 yards of total offense and five touchdowns as Austin Peay topped Eastern Illinois 35-7 to cap a 7-1 OVC season, win its first OVC Championship since 1977 and earn its first-ever playoff berth. The senior completed 15-of-28 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a team-best 57 yards and two additional scores. He had a 13-yard touchdown pass in the f irst quarter to get the team on the board and added a nine-yard pass midway through the third quarter and a 40-yard strike five minutes later to cap the scoring.His touchdown runs came on 5 and 19 yard runs in the second quarter. It marks the thir d time this season he has been named OVC Offensive Player of the Week. Craig ranks 12th nationally in passing yards per completion (14.26), 23rd in points responsible for (15.0/game) and 25th in passing touchdowns (22). JaVaughn Craig threw three touchdowns and ran for two more and Austin Peay beat Eastern Illinois 35-7 for the Ohio Valley Conference championship on Saturday. Austin Peay (9-3, 7-1) owns the tiebreaker over Southeast Missouri State (9-3, 7-1) by virtue o f its 28-24 win over the Redhawks on Oct. 12. Its only their second conference title, the last coming in 1977. The Governors -- ranked No. 19 in FCS -- set a single-season record for wins.Craig threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Baniko Harley with 4:51 left in the first quarter for the game's first score. Darshon McCullough's 47-yard TD run eight seconds into the second tied it up. Craig followed up with a 5-yard scoring run after a 5-play, 76-yard drive less than two minutes later. JaVaughn Craig threw for 238 and three touchdowns, the third one for the go-ahead score in overtime, and Austin Peay defeated Eastern Kentucky 28-21 on Saturday. Austin Peay (6-3, 4-1 Ohio Valley) scored on the first play of overtime, as Craig connected with Kentel Williams on a 25-yard toss. Eastern Kentucky (5-4, 3-2) went four-and-out on its overtime possession. The Governors trailed 10-7 at halftime but took a 21-10 lead on a 1-yard run by Ahmaad Tanner in the third quarter and a 1-yard pass from Cr aig to Prince Momodu early in the fourth.The Colonels drew within 21-18 after Daryl McCleskey's 9-yard run and a successful two-point conversion. Eastern Kentucky tied it at 21 on a 28-yard field goal by Sam Hayworth. After the tying field goal, t he Governors drove to the EKU 32-yard line but Craig threw incomplete on third and fourth downs. EKU took over at its own 32 with 2:28 remaining. Neither team crossed midfield on its final possession of regulation. DeAngelo Wilson caught seven passes for 105 yards for Austin Peay. OCT 28 OVC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: JaVaughn Craig, QB6-2, 200, Sr., Chattanooga, Tenn., Austin Peay,...Craig accounted for seven touchdowns (5 passing, 2 rushing) as Austin Peay improved to 3-1 in OVC play with a 58-21 win at Tennessee Tech. On a r ainy and blustery day, the senior completed 16-of-23 passes for 294 yards and a program record tying five touchdowns (46, 30, 5, 53 and 9 yards) and rushed seven times for a game-high 84 yards and two scores (1 and 27 yards). He was involved in seven of the Govs eight touchdowns in the victory. Craig led the Govs to 58 points, the most in an OVC road contest in program history (breaking the previous mark of 49). JaVaughn Craig passed for 294 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 84 yards and two TDs to help Austin Peay beat Tennessee Tech 58-21 on Saturday. Craig finished 16 of 23 with no interceptions and carried it seven times for the Governors (5-3, 3-1 Ohio Valley Conference). Austin Peay outrushed the Golden Eagles 318-92 and outgained them 614-352 in total offense. DeAngelo Wilson had seven catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns for the Governors. Ahmaad Tanner ran 17 times for 82 yards, Prince Momodu r an 13 times for 78 yards and Kentel Williams ran 16 times for 68 yards and a TD. Tennessee Tech (4-4, 1-3) scored a touchdown on the opening possession of the game. Austin Peay scored the next 41 points and went into the break with a 44-14 lead. Ahmaad Tanner punched into the end zone from 2 yards out for the game-winning score midway through the fourth quarter as Austin Peay knocked off Southeast Missouri State to give Austin Peay a 28-24 win over Southeast Missouri State in an Ohio Valley Conf erence clash on Saturday. The Governors, who knocked off Jacksonville State 52-33 two weeks ago, now have won back-to-back games for the first time under first-year head coach Mark Hudspeth.Daniel Santacaterina fired a 13-yard touchdown pass to Aa ron Alston with 9:52 left in the game to put the Redhawks in front, 24-21, but Austin Peay drove 72 yards in eight plays for the game-winning touchdown on its next possession. It was Austin Peay's first win over JSU since the 1979 season and first win over a ranked opponent since 2017.The senior completed 15-of-21 passes for 220 yards and a 72-yard touchdown to DeAngelo Wi lson in the first quarter and a 48-yard score to Gorel Soumare early in the third quarter to make the score 45-7.
