Antoine Custer Jr. rushed for a career-high 218 yards on just 16 carries and two touchdowns and Eastern Washington held off Portland State 53-46 on Saturday. The Eagles (7-5, 6-2 Big Sky Conference) recovered an onside kick with 2:11 to play and ran out the clock for its fourth-straight win, keeping their slight playoff hopes alive. Eric Barriere threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a fourth for Eastern.

Eastern Washington led 30-17 at halftime, and on the first play of the second half Custer broke free on an 88-yard run. Although he was brought down on the 2, it was his second-longest run of the season and the seventh-longest in school history. Custer scored on the next play. Portland State (5-7, 3-5), which has lost four straight, kept coming back. Davis Alexander threw for 319 yards and four touchdowns. The Vikings had 560 yards to 559 for the Eagles but committed three turnovers and Eastern Washington scored a touchdown after each one. With his fourth-straight 100-yard game and the 12th of his career, Custer finished with 1,228 yards for the season, eighth in school history and 3,045 for his career, which is fourth. - AP College Football

Antoine Custer had 107 yards rushing and four touchdowns, Eric Barriere threw for a score and ran for another, and Eastern Washington beat Cal Poly 42-41 on Saturday night for the Eagles' third consecutive win. Barriere was 11-of-22 passing for 176 yards and added 164 yards rushing on 17 carries. Custer scored on runs of 40, 38 and 2 yards in the first half as EWU (6-5, 5-2 Big Sky Conference) took a 28-14 lead into the break and his 13-yard TD run on the second play of the fourth quarter made it 42-28. Cal Poly (2-8, 1-6) responded with an 11-play, 89-yard drive capped by J.J. Koski's 11-yard touchdown reception and, after the teams traded punts, Nik Navarro recovered a fumble by Barriere at the EWU 22.

Four plays later Duy Tran-Sampson scored on a 4-yard run with 4:58 to play but Jalen Hamler was dropped for a loss on the 2-point conversion attempt and the Eagles led 42-41. Matt Wright forced, and Ryan Boehm recovered, another fumble by Barriere near midfield and a 27-yard run by Hamler made it first-and-10 at the 25. The EWU defense stiffened and Colton Theaker's potential winning 35-yard field-goal attempt sailed wide right with 1:02 left. Hamler passed for 110 yards and three touchdowns - all to Koski - and added 20 carries for 88 yards and a score. Tran-Sampson had 89 yards rushing and two TDs for Cal Poly. - AP College Football

Senior Antoine Custer Jr. and freshman Silas Perreiah combined for 260 yards rushing and four touchdowns and Eastern Washington defeated North Dakota 35-20 on Saturday in a battle of ranked FCS teams. Played in near blizzard like conditions with 20 mile-per-hour winds and a mixture of snow and rain, the Eagles, playing the 1,000th game in school history, gained 284 of their 377 total yards on the ground and the defense forced six turnovers. Calin Criner had two interceptions and Dylan Ledbetter recovered two fumbles.

Custer had 28 carries for 134 yards and three short touchdowns in the first half. Silas, a candidate to red-shirt when the Eagles (2-3, 1-0 Big Sky Conference) had depth at running back, picked up 126 yards on 23 carries and scored the clinching touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. Perreiah, who came in with 11 carries for 30 yards, had a 2-yard plunge to cap a three-play, 18-yard drive set up by the final North Dakota turnover. Eric Barriere, the FCS passing leader, was just 6 of 15 for 93 yards against the top-ranked passing defense but had a 10-yard touchdown run that made it 28-7 at halftime. Nate Ketteringham was 19-of-43 passing for 211 yards and a touchdown, but the North Dakota quarterback had three interceptions. James Johannesson ran for 107 yards and a touchdown as the Fighting Hawks (2-2) picked up 369 yards of offense. - Eastern Washington/AP College Football
