 Daniel Parr, Duquesne, Player News

  03/07/20 - QB Daniel ParrrSr/2020, Duquesne, 6-2, 210 (DS#92 QB) + More +

Once among the state's top high school quarterbacks, Parr played three years at FAU before thriving at Duquesne University, an FCS school in Pennsylvania, the last two seasons. The result, Parr told The Post, was a "roller-coaster" ride that he'll forever appreciate as he prepares for April's NFL Draft. "I wouldn't trade a thing for the world," Parr said. "I learned so many lessons and met so many great people and had so many great experiences that taught me a lot. I'm grateful for everything - the good things and the bad things." Ahead of the NFL Draft, which is April 23-25, Parr has been training with Benjamin head coach, and former NFL quarterback, Eric Kresser.

Parr's pro day is March 19 at the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice complex. Fittingly, Parr is a lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan who often occasionally donned a Steelers hat in interviews. If a professional playing career doesn't work out, Parr has his eyes set on coaching high school football. His father, Paul, has coached for several local programs. Parr said he was "inspired" by former Dwyer head coach Jack Daniels. "Looking at all the kids he's helped, he's taken kids that probably never would have went to college if it wasn't for football," Parr explained. "Giving those kids an opportunity to get a college degree, it's something that I might want to do in the future." - Palm Beach Post

  11/02/19 - QB Daniel ParrrSr/2020, Duquesne, 6-2, 210 (DS#92 QB) + More +

Daniel Parr threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score and Duquesne cashed in on a turnover to beat St. Francis (Pa.) 30-21 on Saturday to remain undefeated in Northeast Conference play. The win was coach Jerry Schmitt's 98th, the most in program history. Parr's 15-yard pass to Kellon Taylor tied it at 7 and Mitch MacZura's go-ahead 28-yard field goal put the Dukes (6-2, 4-0) up for good. Brendan Thompson forced and recovered a fumble that led to Parr's 2-yard run for a 17-7 lead and his 16-yard TD pass to Kareem Coles Jr. made it 27-21 in the third quarter.

The Red Flash drove to the Dukes' 37 in the fourth, but Harvey Clayton Jr. picked off Jason Brown's fourth-down desperation heave at the goal line. The Dukes stopped St. Francis's final drive on downs to seal it. Parr was 16 of 31 for 203 yards and Taylor caught eight passes for 101 yards. Brown threw three TD passes for the Red Flash (4-5, 2-3), two to Ra'Shaun Henry and a 7-yarder to EJ Jenkins. Brown was 20 of 38 for 278 yards and Henry caught 11 passes for 183 yards. - AP College Football

  10/19/19 - QB Daniel ParrrSr/2020, Duquesne, 6-2, 210 (DS#92 QB) + More +

Daniel Parr threw a pair of five-yard touchdown passes and Mitch Maczura kicked a pair of field goals as Duquesne stopped Sacred Heart, 20-6, Saturday in a battle of last year's Northeastern Conference co-champions. The Dukes (4-2, 2-0) came into the game with the 13th-ranked defense in the Football Championship Subdivision, limiting opponents to just 317.2 yards per game. They held the Pioneers to 233 yards of total offense and allowed them just 10 first downs.

Parr completed 15 of his 26 pass attempts for 149 yards, hitting Kellon Taylor to cap a 13-play, 83-yard drive, then finding Dontay Mayfield to cap an eight-play, 81-yard drive just before halftime to put the Dukes up, 17-0. A.J. Hines carried the load on offense for the Dukes, carrying 29 times for 142 yards. Defensively Duquesne limited Sacred Heart to just 84 passing yards and picked off Logan Marchi three times. Sacred Heart (3-4, 1-2) got on the board in third quarter when Julius Chestnut brook loose for a 61-yard touchdown run. Chestnut finished with 128 yards on 20 carries. - AP College Football

  09/21/19 - QB Daniel ParrrSr/2020, Duquesne, 6-2, 210 (DS#92 QB) + More +

Mark Allen capped a 10-play, 75-yard drive with a 1-yard dive to lift Duquesne past Dayton, 35-31 in a nonconference contest Saturday afternoon. The Dukes (2-1) won their fourth straight over the Flyers and split back-to-back games in Ohio, falling to Youngstown State, 34-14 last week. They continue their three-game road trip next week at New Hampshire. The game was the home opener for Dayton (2-1). The teams were tied, 21-21 at intermission and Dayton took the lead on a 97-yard kick-off return by Jake Chisholm to open the second half. Less than three minutes later Daniel Parr got Duquesne even once more with a 3-yard run for a touchdown.

Sam Webster put the Flyers back in front with a 32-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. The Dukes regained the lead on Allen's TD plunge and Dayton's 11-play answering drive stalled at the Duquesne 31 with 1:49 left and the Flyers turned the ball over on downs. Parr completed 18 of 22 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a third. Allen finished with 30 carries for 168 yards and two 1-yard touchdowns. Jack Cook was 19 of 27 for Dayton and threw three touchdown passes and one interception. - AP College Football
