  2019 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): Defensive Back Michael Walker, Senior, Northern Colorado,...Walker was one of the best defensive backs in the Big Sky in 2019 ending up tied for the second-most interceptions with four and ranked second in the conference with 1.09 passes defended per game. He played a key role in both of the team's wins in 2019 with two interceptions in each, including a pick-six at Idaho State. He finished the year with 46 tackles, 1.5 for a loss, nine pass breakups the four interceptions, a QB hurry and a forced fumble. - Northern Colorado Football

  NOV 4 BIG SKY FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Northern Colorado cornerback Michael Walker played a key role in Northern Colorado's 26-20 win at Idaho State - the first since 2009. He made his presence known on the first play he was on the field when he forced a fumble setting up UNC's first touchdown of the game. The senior went on to record a 35-yard pick-six at the start of the second half to put UNC up 18-10. The second interception came in the fourth quarter when he picked off the ball at the two-yard line with Idaho State threatening to score. The interception helped UNC hold onto their 26-20 lead. Walker also had a pass breakup and three tackles.   SEPT 30/WEEK 5 BIG SKY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Northern Colorado cornerback Michael Walker recorded two game-changing interceptions in the game, as he played a critical role in the team's first win of the season over Idaho. Both of Walker's interceptions came in the red zone to help UNC's defense shut down Idaho's offense. Walker's first interception came on the 10-yard line with Idaho up by 10 with 51 seconds left in the first half, as he returned it eight yards. Walker's second interception came in the endzone in the third quarter with the Vandals up by a touchdown with 4:05 to go in the third quarter. He became the first Bear since 2013 with a multiple interception game. He added in six tackles in the victory.
